Palm kernel shell, which is a waste product of palm oil processing, has a high selling value to be processed into briquettes, animal feed mixture, boiler fuel, lightweight concrete aggregate, and other products.
This business uses a trading scheme where PEMA will purchase palm kernel shells from several PKS suppliers in Aceh Province to be collected at the palm kernel shell stockpile.
The market share of the palm kernel shell commercialization business targets the domestic market and international markets including Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria, the United States and the United Kingdom.
The operation of the palm kernel shell commercialization business is in collaboration with BUMDs in palm oil producing regions. The sales target of palm kernel shells in the first year is targeted to reach 100,000 tons with prospective buyers from Japan.
